Wizards Player of the Game
Drum roll…
Trevor Booker, with a hat tip to Kevin Seraphin. Booker was everywhere. Hustling on what seemed to be every play and prompting his coach to say after the game, “I couldn’t take him out in the 2nd half based on the way he was playing.”
Book had a monster game on the stat sheet with 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting and 17 rebounds but what makes him so valuable are the things that don’t show up in the box score, the effort and hustle plays.
WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight
Andrew Bynum - I really thought Bynum was going to dominate in this game. Seeing him up close and in person, he looks all 285 they state he does in the press guide. Seraphin did a phenomenal job in the 2nd half and helped keep the Lakers All Star Center to 6 rebounds and 7 turnovers.
JaVale McGee Had a relatively quiet 12 points and 12 rebounds in only 23 minutes. WE chose the right position, who would have known Seraphin would choose the Lakers to have his coming out party.
The Good
Dunks, three point shooting, Lakers, underdog upset, bloopers, hard fouls and a win against Kobe Bryant…that is plenty good.
The Bad
Jan Vesely got the dreaded “DNP – Coach’s Decision” on a night when every active Wizard player got burn. Not what Wizards fans want to see from the 6th pick in the draft last year but I don’t expect this to be a trend moving forward….I hope.
The Ugly

Let me go to my music roots and quote the title of a great track by Avicii, "Enough is Enough." No, That's not that Flo Rida remix or "the one that goes dun dun dun, dunnn nah nah nah nah nah nah nah." Believe it or not, I've actually had someone sing "Levels" to me in a loud DJ booth as if I wasn't a real DJ. Let's just say that I much prefer Etta James' singing as oppose to white girl Sally. I could write a whole article about experiences in a DJ booth but I'm over this circus act and I'm tired of my city, team and fellow fans supporting someone who clearly does nothing but care about her own intentions. No, I'm not talking about Sally, but rather her older sister Andray.
At what point do we just let it go and cut ties? Clearly the benching wasn't enough, missing games due to injury wasn't enough, and now that he's back in the line-up, all Blatche seems to do is droop his shoulders and cry to the media.
NEWSFLASH DRAY: When your team is 8-29 and you're one of the higher paid players on the team, no one cares if you're upset that you're being boo'd at your arena. Just ask Rashard Lewis how it feels to go in to a game knowing that you're stealing money from a fan base. He's the expert.
I'm usually the first one to give people the benefit of the doubt. In the past, it's come back to haunt me because I'm one of those people who feel as though I might be expecting too much out of someone.
Well, forgive me for thinking that being a professional is asking for too much out of Andray Blatche. You may or may not have heard Blatche's most recent comments following the Wizards most recent loss to Golden State. It was a game in which Dray was not a factor in any way and was serenaded with a chorus of boos that at one point was so loud I could hear it over his sister's off tuned rendition of "Levels" in my left ear.
It’s pretty hard to come back against a team who scores 41 points and shoots for 71.4 percent in a quarter. The Wizards found that one out the hard way last night against the Golden State Warriors.
Is it frustrating? Yes. But should the fans be as furious with the team as they seemed at the Verizon Center? No.
Here’s why.
Golden State exposed everything that is wrong with this team. But along with doing that, they showed the Wizards what they need to do at the trade deadline and during this off-season.
They need scorers to be able to compete with these West Coast teams who, night-after-night, have no problem scoring over 100 and even over 110 points a night. But more importantly, they need defense backup weapons to try and contain these types of teams.
This is a PSA courtesy of Wizards Exreme:
Is your 5-game road trip becoming tiresome? Are you seeking some sort of momentum before you return back home? Are you frustrated for not being considered an elite team?
Well, look no further! Whether you are a big market, small market…heck, even the supermarket, it makes no difference. Come visit the Verizon Center where our basketball team can make you feel like a contender on any given night!!
Give us a try!

Go Wizards!!!!!!
Every week Wizards Extreme will feature 5 burning questions and their answers pertaining directly to the Washington Wizards and the current state they are in. This week's segment addresses the recent improvement in John Wall's game, Jordan Crawford's impact since Young has been out, the return of Dray, and youngins: Booker, Singleton and Vesely.
Today’s feature includes responses from the Wizards Extreme’s team –Chuck Lamar, Shaun Ahmad, Trevor Jackson, Mike Andrews, and Joe Glorioso.

John Wall is averaging 22.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8.4 assists over the past 8 games. What do you attribute this to?
SHAUN: The Energizer bunny seems to be understanding the importance of slowing down just a bit. Wall has seemed much more controlled and is showing indications of understanding how to harness his speed versus when to kick it into fifth gear. This can't be easy to do, and you still see guys like Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook getting into trouble from time to time because of it. Speed is a great asset but can be a tremendous liability if not used properly and Wall seems to be comprehending that part of it. By knowing when to attack and when to maneuver around players and schemes to find the best possible shot, he's become more efficient and more effective. Hopefully, it continues.
TREVOR: Wall has been playing with much better control in recent games. He is always one of the fastest players on the court, but sometimes gets himself in trouble by getting out of control. By slowing things down, Wall seems to be letting the game come to him more which has helped him both in scoring and passing. His turnovers are still high, but that is expected when nearly ALL of the offense runs through one particular player. Another thing going for Wall recently is the fact that he is knocking down his jump shot. Combine that with the fact that certain teammates have been elevating their game recently, and you have the reason Wall has been on fire.
CHUCK: First off, he look as if he's finally got his condtioning together. Earlier in the season he seemed tired and out of shape, the results of an extended lockout. Also, the Randy Whitman hiring has had the team playing which with more passion and energy and that has clearly rubbed off on the young star. He is getting used to be THE GUY.
MIKE: I think the addition of Jordan Crawford has sparked some of John Wall’s recent success. Crawford plays the fast-paced style of play that Wall is familiar with. So when you have one player that is performing at a higher level, it's going to rub off on other players. I also feel a lot of it has to do with him just being overall disgusted with the now eight wins. I've mentioned it before but Wall looks the most frustrated after a loss or during a game when the team is getting stomped. He's not used to this culture of losing, so I think that he feels like a lot of the weight is on his shoulders.
JOE: I think there are various factors that come into play with John’s recent success but none are more important than the fact that the players around him are playing better. Over those last 10 games Wall has seen 6 games of 9 assists or better, with a 15 assist night coming in the first game post-all star break. If Wall had a sick knock-down shooter such as Kyle Korver, Steve Novak or how about anyone not on the Wizards current roster, we’d be talking about Wall being in the Top 5 in assists – where he is currently ranked 9th @ 7.6 apg. In those 10 games John is also logging close to 37 minutes p/game which means Coach Wittman is riding his star and you can only assume that someone is telling John to be more assertive on the offensive end. You don’t have to be Hubie Brown to realize that those baskets John was leaving on the rim are either going in or he’s getting foul calls to go his way now too.
no commentsYou might have got the sense that as a fan, I love Nick Young. I love what he brings to the team, I don’t question his shot selection and I value his three-point shooting ability.
But as a fan, I’m willing to accept the truth, and now actually look forward to the future.
You can attribute that to one Mr. Jordan Crawford.
Nick Young has a history of some streaky shooting, but you could always count on one thing; when he got hot, he wasn’t missing hardly any buckets.
But when Jordan Crawford gets hot, he’s not missing any buckets.
Three pointers, layups, jumpers; you name it. They’re going in.
The trade rumors have been circulating since last season of a possible trade including him. I was never okay with it until tonight.
The way that Jordan Crawford has played against the Magic and the Cavaliers has made me at peace with the idea that the Wizards organization will more than likely deal Nick Young.
His third-quarter shooting spree against the Magic had me on the edge of my seat as he lead the Wizards on a terrific run, that if they held, he would be the main reason for a win against a division rival.
His impressive shooting (31 points on 13-22 field goals) against the Cavaliers tonight IS the reason why the Wizards snapped their six-game losing streak. His hot play is infectious, too. When Crawford is on the court, everyone around him seems to feel it. John Wall ended up scoring 24 points, as well.
There’s just some kind of magic on the court when Crawford gets hot.
Do I expect him to score over 30 points a night?
No.
Do I expect him to bring a sense of urgency to this team in critical stretches?
Yes.
That’s the difference I find between Nick and Jordan.
And because of that, I’m starting to accept that getting rid of not just Andray, but Nick as well, is truly going to further this rebuild and start clean with most of the players gone from the “big three” era.
no commentsFor the last minute of the game, the crowd all stood and cheered on the Wizards, applauding and amping them up for the home win.
Streamers and confetti shot out as soon as the clock ran out, signifying the Wizards had ended their six-game losing streak.
Jordan Crawford scored a game high 31 points, including five three-pointers, while John Wall added 24 points to lead the Wizards to a 101-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. Roger Mason had a big 2nd quarter when he scored all 11 of his points off the bench. Maurice Evans with 7.
Jan Vesely also brought a lot of energy off the Wizards bench and had some of his best dunks of the season. He finished with 9 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.
It had been a tough return for Andray Blatche, who had missed a month with a strained calf, and as usual, heard boos from the crowd once he entered the game. Though he only scored one point, he contributed 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
“John Wall has been playing well," Wizards’ coach Randy Wittman said. "I like where he’s been going with his decision-making. That’s the growth of a point guard and he’s made great steps over the past couple of weeks. That’s what we want every night."
